Best Matcha Ceremonial is crafted from hand-picked Okumidori cultivar tea leaves, sourced directly from Mr. Hattori's family farm in Shizuoka Prefecture, where matcha has been cultivated with dedication and expertise for generations. This fourth-generation family farm operates sustainably, using solar panels to provide the traditional shade required during the final 3-4 weeks of growth—these panels simultaneously generate renewable energy for the local community. The plants are grown pesticide-free and nourished with organic compost from the surrounding area, creating a closed-loop system that honours both tradition and environmental responsibility.

This single-cultivar ceremonial-grade matcha displays a vibrant emerald colour and complex flavour profile—umami-rich with natural sweetness and no bitterness.

Okumidori, meaning "deep green," is a highly prized cultivar comprising only 3% of total tea production in Japan. Developed in Shizuoka in 1974, it's celebrated for its rich chlorophyll content, deep green colour, and exceptional matcha profile. This makes our matcha rare—most matcha is blended from multiple cultivars to achieve balance, but we source single-cultivar Okumidori for its distinctive, consistent taste and superior quality.

The youngest, most tender Okumidori leaves are hand-selected during first harvest and stone-ground in small batches to order, ensuring you receive the freshest possible matcha. This traditional process preserves the delicate flavour compounds and brilliant green colour that define exceptional ceremonial matcha.

HOW TO USE

FOR YOUR BEST MATCHA YET:

  1. Sift 1-3g (one perfect scoop) of matcha into your bowl
  2. Add 60-80ml of hot water (70-80°C)
  3. Whisk briskly in a zigzag motion until frothy
  4. Enjoy immediately
